Miss Katie is an experienced educator and is known to many of Providence’s younger residents.
Miss Katie is most known for her time as an instructor at Pow! Science in Wayland Square, where she hosted birthday parties, taught weekly preschool science classes and led science workshops for school-age students.
Miss Katie also worked as a nanny for 3 years on Providence’s Eastside, and has been sighted at many a neighborhood playground and story hour.
Miss Katie’s career as an educator began at Rhode Island’s very own W. Alton Jones Environmental Education Center, where she spent spent two summers roaming the woods teaching elementary and middle school students about biology, ecology and environmental issues. She has since worked in public schools Portland, Oregon, teaching students of all ages about energy conservation and environmental science.
When not playing science, Miss Katie can often be found making new friends with dogs and children in her Elmhurst neighborhood, wearing giant sunglasses, and playing a wide variety of instruments, often in the company of the Extraordinary Rendition Band.
